It is of great importance for young University students to have the opportunity to get to know other cultures. By visiting each others country and if possible live with families, bridges can be built to enhance future co-operation, friendship and close relations.
This fall IJCE-Iceland, a committee within the Iceland-Japan Society, organized a Student Conference on Energy in Iceland. With the help of Ministries, Institutions and last but not least, private Icelandic Enterprices, the Japanese students were able to get to know the forces of our nature as well as looking into the past and the future on the important issues related to energy. During their stay of 12 days all of them stayed with families.
I sincerely hope that the desire of these young University students both in Iceland and in Japan will mark a beginning of a fruitful co-operation between students to the benefit of both countries in the future.
