<Process of the Student Conference>
Before the Conference, board members are selected from student volunteers. The members organize Boards named IJCE-Japan and IJCE-Iceland, and prepare for the Conference.
During the Conference, the members live together at members' houses for about 10 days in order to experience foreign custum and culture directly. Members use English as a common language.

The main program is discussion at subgroups and a final meeting. The Subgroups are formed for every sub topics of the Conference, and members have debates and fieldworks in them. The final meeting is held by all members after the subgroup meetings for the discussion on the general theme of the Conference.

The conclusion of the discussions is announced and proposed to the society at the public report meeting. After the Conference, the omnibus report is published and distributed to related associations, companies and academic institutes.

<The Mission of the Conference>

Considering the relationship between Japan and Iceland

"Cultural Exchange"---We often see this phrase all over the world, and actually we take a positive attitude to the international communication indeed. But did we think, and do we think, why we have to communicate together at all?
Regrettably, the cultural exchange between Iceland and Japan is not active. The idea of the cultural exchange in such remote countries may be defferent from the "cultural exchange" we are familiar with. Promotion of the cultural communication between Iceland and Japan demand us to reflect why we have to walk toward each other.
Embassy of Iceland in Japan and Embassy of Japan in Iceland are established in 2001. Further bilateral cultural approach has just begun. Now we should consider the Iceland-Japan relationship and its necessity.

At the student conference we set some subtopics and a main topic under this general mission, and disscuss about the roles and the influence of each country. The main topic and the subtopics are determined by the board members of both country. By accumulation this discussion, we can find the better relationship polyphonously and multidimensionally.
